If you’re going to do any holiday travel to visit relatives, the best time to do it is before the holidays actually arrive. In early December last year, my siblings and I got together in Boulder, Colorado, for a big family reunion.
The above photos were taken the day after we arrived. We went for a hike through the foothills of the Flatirons, and I managed it despite having less than a day to adjust to the atmospheric difference between the Mile High City and Maryland (which is at sea-level or close). In fact, we hiked about two miles! I was amazed at what I could do, dystonia-turned foot and all. All those daily exercises I’ve been putting in (per my physical therapist’s instructions) have really paid off.
Boulder was looking festive. Even the Art Deco courthouse displayed Christmas decorations.
While we were in town, we took a tour of the surrounding areas. Among other places, we hit Louisville and Lafayette.
In one of those places we found a pinball arcade. Haven’t seen one of those in a while.
One day, we traveled to downtown Denver and took in some of the sights, including the Denver Art Museum. We were swept away by the World’s Biggest Broom outside the building! 🙂
Here are some other pictures of downtown Denver.
The day before we left, we hit an awesome restaurant called Lucile’s for brunch. It featured down-home, Louisiana-style cuisine.
We also ran across one of those cool little free libraries! 🙂
And because it was right before Christmas, my brother and sister-in-law had a tree up.
Here are some more pictures we took in Boulder.
On the path, in glowing black and white!
In living color! 🙂
