My Book Review of ‘The Psychology of Money’

Hi. Well, today I’m reviewing this book, The Psychology of Money by Morgan Hausel, and I got to tell you, everybody in the world should read this book. This is just wonderful. I mean, it’s written in such a readable style and explains to the reader why we feel the way we do about money, and it’s a very, very eye-opening read. The more you think about it, the more you realize, yes, it’s true.

We have a tendency to mistake people who own lots of stuff as being rich. Being rich doesn’t mean you own a mansion and a yacht necessarily. Being rich means you have enough to do whatever you want. So what does that tell you about money and what does that tell you about your own spending habits? So having said that, I mean, I can’t recommend this book highly enough for everybody because when you come down to it, it’s your time.

It’s your time and the way you choose to spend money and make money, it’s going to depend on your values to a large extent. And if you think writers are into it just for the money, you don’t know much about what it’s like to be a writer because most writers don’t make a lot of money, and it’s not something you hear about on the news because the remarkable stuff makes the news, and it’s rare, very rare.

So, just a heads up to anybody who’s interested in writing for a living. It’s not the easy path. If I wanted to make a lot of money, I would just have continued to work for the government as a lawyer. That would’ve been a steady income at a job that I was interested in, but did not feel deeply in love with. So what can I say? I mean, we do this for love and money, so we all have to live, right? But this is a great book. It really, really is. It’s well worth your time reading and I highly recommend it. The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel. Thank you and I will talk to you later. Be seeing you.

You can buy it in print or digital from your choice of retailer.
