I have to tell you, this book came as a complete surprise to me, because I don’t read a lot of fantasy. Not a lot. A little. But this book is absolutely fantastic and I only wish that I’d read the first book in the series before I read this one. I got this in a Goodreads giveaway, so it kind of dropped into my life. And all I can say is the author does a fantastic job of world building. Absolutely amazing.
What you have is a society divided and obvious socioeconomic differences between the two parts and a leader who one group is trying to overthrow and this thing called the Mantle. And there’s probably all sorts of backstory I don’t know that I need to catch up on if I really want to understand this.
But this is still an excellent book and I loved reading it, even though I didn’t read the first one in the series. So if you enjoy fantasy reading at all, I think this book will please you. I mean, it’s a wonderful story with characters who just are so well drawn and left such an impression. Now I want to read all the other books.
So with that, I’ll just say, that’s it. And I give this one high marks. Five stars. And I’ll talk to you later.
