When I posted this, I hadn’t really expected to keep it going. But I decided to take the five minutes a day (tops!) to do this.
In any case, these are my thoughts or lessons learned or misinterpretations—depending, I guess. Reasonable minds can differ and your mileage can vary, etc.
Here they are:
About “Thoughts on your book cover”
Books and people are judged by their covers.
And genre or niche matters. But so does originality.

About “Developing a picture”
We become the product of our habits. So choose your habits well.

About “Making a difference (making a point)”
Show, rather than tell, what you’re about. Life isn’t a debate.

About “The half-life of culture”
Times change. And I’d love to know what an archivist or historian would think of this post.

PS: Here’s my rebuttal recommended list of quotes about the importance of history.
About “Variability, industrialization and hating your job”
The five factors that determine job satisfaction bear quoting repeating:
Task significance: Does the work you do create meaning or impact?
Task identity: Do you feel ownership (emotionally) in the work you’re doing?
Autonomy: Do you have the freedom to make choices?
Skill variety: Is the task monotonous?
Feedback: Are you in a place where you can safely and easily get feedback and use it to improve?
We are all creatures of habit, but we aren’t machines. But automating every aspect of our lives may end up turning us into cogs in yet another machine.
Don’t sell yourself short, financially or creatively.

About “Speed bumps”
Never mistake a speed bump for a wall. Or vice versa.
