Hi. Well, gosh, it’s hard to know what to talk about because so much is going on right now. I just found out that the 10th Wave is going to be screening our short films. Assuming I can get it done in time, mine will be one of them on, I think it’s December 6th. Let me take a look at that and double check that and see if that was actually the case. I hope you’ll excuse me while I do this. I’m flipping through my emails here. Where is the email? Here it is. “We will be screening films at the Parkway Theater on Saturday, December 6th. So do you think you will have your film ‘Absolution’ fully edited and ready to screen by then? If so, can you get it to me by Thursday, December 4th?” That’s a very good question.
Personally, I think I can do it. I just need to start planning now, and that’s what I’ll be doing. Planning, cutting, color correcting, fidgeting, fooling, messing around with all this footage and sound and music and inserts of things that happened at various times with the actors or without the actors. Nevermind, it’s complicated.
Okay, so editing, that’s what I’m going to be doing for the next few weeks, along with the other things that I’m doing, of course. So not much is going on, but I will say this. That it’s pretty clear where my allegiances lie at this point in terms of my interests, my skills, my desire to do any particular thing. I just finished my third Erica Jensen novel, tentative title, Past Imperfect. Personally, I think it’s the perfect title for this, Past Imperfect, just something to think about. In any case, my editor liked it, my new editor. I now have a new one, and I’m very excited to work with her.
She’s awesome. She also writes plays, so that’s cool. Where was I? Oh yeah, along with editing the movie and all that stuff. I was just going to say, there’s a short film that I made as part of a film challenge in April of this year. I thought, oh, why don’t I just take out the YouTube music and add, it was a silent, and I thought take out the YouTube music, ad some different music, and then I made a few little changes to the beginning and the end just to make some changes and explain a few things about the movie. And so that’s going to be showing in Virginia, I believe, at George Mason University as part of the Women in Film and Video ScriptDC Conference that they hold every year, which unfortunately I’m not going to this year. And now I’m like, oh, if I were going to the conference, I would go, but I will probably end up using the time to make this movie that took two days to make.
Two days we had to specially schedule. It was supposed to be made in one, and everybody was there for the second day and I was just so grateful. I just really want to see this thing made. I really want to, that’s the audience that I want to hear the reaction from, to be honest. I want people to see this and to know how they felt about it afterwards, if they felt anything. If they felt bad, good, thought the ending was ironic, thought the ending was terrible, thought the ending was wonderful, and then I’m going to ask them another question that could lead to more.
Could this be a proof of concept of some sort? I’m just going to leave it right there and let you, the question is who’s left at the end of the day? Alright, that’s all I’ll say. And yeah, that’s all I’ll say. That’s it for now and wish me luck. I’m going to need it. Be seeing you!
PS: How interesting. Suddenly, GIFs don’t work here. Not at the mo, anyhow. 🙂
