Lessons Learned from Seth Godin: Part Four

Here are more of the lessons I’ve taken from reading Seth Godin’s blog.

About “Solving for stress”

Stop stressing about stress and start thinking about your next move.

Determine your goal, set up a plan, and follow through. And don’t expect overnight results.

About “The inevitable decline of fully open platforms”

Turns out gatekeepers aren’t all bad. Nor is the move away from them.

Ultimately, it comes down to being trustworthy.

About “The nesting bowls”

Invention comes from looking at a thing from different perspectives.

Also, it helps to know geometry.

Also, think outside the box. And question everything. Never assume.

About “Cyber-realists”

Extreme positions on anything won’t serve you well. If change is inevitable, make it a change for the better.

Change is hard, because the narrative in your head suggests one way of doing things, when another could be better. But you can’t see the change because of that narrative.

Fine. We’re all going to end up in robot bodies.

About “Feature requests for monopolists”

Monopolists suck.

And I think it would be great if a certain giant online retailer Web services provider would quit using “indie authors” as its cheap slave labor content mill.

About “Is TikTok powerful?”

Technology has changed the power structure. Again and again.

But no amount of algorithmic influence will change a ton of shit to anything else.
