Accountability Project — June 2024 Update

I was searching for an “update image” and came up with this. I couldn’t resist it. 🙂

Hey, yeah, I don’t have a book review today, but I’m going over … what I’m trying to do is set things up to make my life easier.

Schedule things in advance, have a publishing schedule, all of these things that will just make my life easier. And I talked before about “SMART goals,” and I am actually mentoring somebody right now through Sisters in Crime. And I looked at the process they used for that, and I applied it to myself in my own life for my own needs, for my own goals, which in this case is to focus on screenwriting as well as novel writing.

So here’s what I’ve come up with in terms of SMART goals:

  • Two hours writing the novel, two to three times a week;
  • Revisit pilot scripts. TV pilots. Rewrite two to three times a week;
  • Designate one hour per day to organize files. That can be on the computer or off;
  • Send short script to person. I’ll leave the name out of it. Actually, that’s the thing I have to do today. I should have done it a while ago;
  • Set up schedule this weekend. That was [the weekend before] this past weekend for video newsletter, Crime Cafe Newsletter, Substack and Patreon updates. Wow. Yeah.
  • Set aside two hours to do grant research [per week];
  • Send out an email to, oh, networking. Just do some networking. That’s it.

That’s a little bit of networking every week. That’s right. So I’m going to see if I can keep to this and I will keep track, and I have to write something every day, even if it’s not the novel. That’s why I specifically reserve two hours for the novel, two to three times a week, and whenever I’m not doing the novel, I’m working on my feature scripts, pilot scripts especially. I need to work on those a lot. Shorts, I have this short film that I definitely want to make. One of the things on my bucket list in terms of the year is to at least be in pre-production on my short screenplay, I hope. And anyway, so that’s part of what I’m doing right now.

That’s what I did yesterday. Actually, on Sunday. I just sat down and started figuring out what were the real things I wanted to try to accomplish. And there you have it. So, I mean, if I can come up with some sort of way of describing this in a document, I’d be happy to provide that to people. Here’s what I did. Maybe a case study. Maybe I’ll turn myself into a case study. I don’t know. Hopefully it’ll be a successful case study. Alrighty, then be seeing you. See you later.

PS: I made a transcript. That’s a start, huh? Assisted by AI. Please don’t sue me. 🙂

Let’s see what happens in a month. 🙂

Meet Debbi

Welcome to my writers' corner of the Internet. I'm a novelist, who also writes short stories and screenplays. I hope to share the benefit of my experiences as an indie author with dystonia since 2009. I also post a lot of book reviews, because I love to read and learn new things. I hope to share that knowledge with you.
