Identifying What Indies Need

Hi, everyone! Well, so far, I have three responses to the survey that I sent out last week. And I’m hoping for more because some of these, well, the results I’m getting so far, such as they are, are very interesting.

Question one: What was the biggest challenge you face as a self published author?

Responses I got included pricing and promotion, sales, and the third (which I thought was interesting) was motivation. Now, to me, all these things are tied up—sales, pricing, promotion, and motivation. It’s all kind of, I’d like to think of it as a holistic thing. You need to be motivated in order to do the work obviously, but you also need to be motivated to do the marketing. So motivation, price, sales, all of this is stuff that is worth looking into and figuring out what to do about. So I intend to focus on that. For my own good as well as yours.

Question two: Do you know what analytics are important?

That’s a great question. Isn’t it? Because I ask myself that question a lot and the resounding answer from everyone, all three people, was no. So one of the things I’m figuring out is what’s important analytically in terms of what to monitor.

Question three: Would you consider making money in ways other than selling books through retailers?

Two yeses, and a maybe with a kind of a niche suggestion in terms of, I think, a membership or type of thing. Anyway, having said that, so you have two yeses and a maybe which to me sounds like yes, pretty much. Oh, and I’m glad to see people are interested in doing things other than just selling books through retailers, because there are options, and I want to get into those.

And so on that note, I’ll just say, please, I will include the link to the survey here with the YouTube video and the blog post that I post this on. And I hope that you’ll click here to take the survey. Please. It’s very short and it would help me a lot to understand where people’s needs are really in terms of what they struggle with. I know I, myself am a struggler with a lot of things. In any event, I just want to get to some answers, you know? That’s it. And I’ll talk to you later!

PS: And I should add that I’m going to do a giveaway for anybody who responds to the survey. I’m giving away a copy of my short story with an option to join my mailing list. So, just look for that. And as for the first three people, you guys are automatically going to get that. So thanks. And I’ll talk to you later.

PPS: Also the survey will run for at least a week! Thanks! 🙂 Damn, I always forget to mention something!
