Time to Reevaluate and Pivot

Hi everyone. I’m just doing a quick update here, because I said that it’s a good time to reevaluate your goals. Well, I’ve been doing that and I’ve been thinking about how to achieve what I want and part of what I wanted to do was follow the 30-day digital decluttering that Cal Newport suggests in his book. So to do that, I first had to work out which of the technologies I use that I don’t really need.

So it’s rather difficult to do this during May, because I’m going to be launching a new book at the end of May. So it kind of left me in kind of a quandary. But what I thought I would do is for the next 30 days, I’ll think about how I’m going to do the 30 days or at least plan ahead. So here’s what I’m doing. I focused on some things where I was looking for traffic, YouTube and the other thing was podcast and I’m checking my analytics in those areas.

I have three YouTube channels by the way. And don’t ask me how they just kind of developed the way these things do for me. I have my own (just Debbi Mack), I have the Crime Cafe my podcast, which is not only audio but it’s video and I have Film Woman, where I put up videos of different sorts. And so, in any case, I was looking at the analytics there. I’m trying to figure out where most of the traffic came from. And not surprisingly, most of it was Google and YouTube. So Facebook, Twitter … not so much. Hmm. That was interesting. I also looked at my Blubrry stats. Blubrry is the host I use for my podcast and I recommend them. They’re really good. In fact, if you want to look at the features of Blubrry, just check the affiliate link below this video.

I liked them a lot and I’ve been getting most of my traffic from my website, which seems logical, but I’m going to take another look at that because I’m thinking, how are people getting to my website? Is it through Google? Is it through YouTube? I don’t know …. So anyway I’m going to take a closer look at that. But it’s interesting to look at the analytics because they’ve been rising generally and that’s a good sign. And I’m also keeping track of my bank account, which I would like to say is rising faster, but it’s not. But it is, I think rising and that’s also a good sign. So I’m just hopeful, because frankly I can’t afford to spend too much, otherwise I’m just going to have a very expensive hobby … writing. That’s it. That’s the God’s honest truth.

So with that, I’ll just say that’s my update for now and I’ll keep you apprised of what I do with this 30-day thing that I hope to do in June, actually. I figured 30 days in June, I’ll do it then. That’s it. And I will talk to you later. Take care and stay safe and so forth. Thanks. Thanks a lot.

Oh, you may notice I don’t obsess over for one thing, Amazon rank. I’m tired of obsessing over that. I did that for years, and to be honest, I don’t think it was a good thing. Talk to you later.

PS: Happy Cinco de Mayo! 🙂

PPS: I am leaning into it! 🙂
