What Do You Need to Know About Self-Publishing?

Hi, I hope to get back to doing book reviews at some point, because I can’t do them right now because I’m reading so many books as a Hammett Award screener that—and I can’t talk about any of them, of course—that it’s very hard for me to get to any other books, but I’m managing somehow to do that. But I will eventually get to that. What I would like to do right now actually is talk about what your needs are, because I often think about what it is that indie authors might want to know, what people who are interested in self-publishing might want to know. But I have no idea if what I’m saying is connecting. I mean, or if my assumptions are correct.

So, I’ve put together a little survey (click link to access) and I would just like to get a sense of what you struggle with, what you do and don’t understand, and take it from there, because, you know, I don’t have all the answers, but I do know where to look for them.

I was trained as a librarian as well as a lawyer. So I have a tendency to be very research-oriented and I’m not a terrible researcher by any means. I’m a fairly good one, I think. I’m not, that’s not my full-time occupation, but it’s part of writing. So I mean, the answers are out there if you know where to look. And sometimes that’s the tricky part, knowing where to look and who to trust. So, having said that, if you could just do the survey, I would really appreciate it. I’m going to put a link to it in the description to this video on YouTube, and I’ll put it in the blog post that I put this up on. So, on that note, I will just add that if you’re interested, I offer a free writing journal. (Click the link to get your copy.) It’s got, um, kind of, well, don’t worry about it. 🙂

It’s a cover I designed a long time ago and it has a kind of, you know, how can I put this? It has kind of a stock photo look to it. That’s the best way to describe it, I guess. But I mean, other than that, I mean, it’s a perfectly good downloadable writing journal. You can print out as many pages of it as you want, whenever you want, put it in a binder or whatever. Anyway, it’s there also, if you would like to get a free writing journal. And I will only add this—I can at least talk about this book.

So far, I’m reading this and it’s absolutely fantastic. Lots of great advice, if you think about how to apply it to your situation. Anyway, that’s it for now. And I will talk to you later.

Don’t forget to please take the survey and if you want, help yourself to a free writing journal.

Thanks. Talk to you later! 🙂

Meet Debbi

Welcome to my writers' corner of the Internet. I'm a novelist, who also writes short stories and screenplays. I hope to share the benefit of my experiences as an indie author with dystonia since 2009. I also post a lot of book reviews, because I love to read and learn new things. I hope to share that knowledge with you.
