Now, there’s an aspirational photo! 🙂
Hi everyone. Well, I just spent the weekend, one, going to a book fair on Saturday at the University of Maryland on Maryland Day. And it was really nice. It was, well, it was a little chilly, but it was really nice just to get out and see other people and be with other authors and with other University of Maryland alum. So that was nice.

And they had pizza and stuff for us to eat and coffee to drink and tea. So it was all very nice. They had fruit, they had salad. Anyway, I won’t go on about that. I did sell a book, which was kind of nice. Technically two books, I think. Although I had a problem with the QR code situation. I don’t know how these things work. I mean, I was trying to figure it out before I went and I was just not quite … Something wasn’t working.
I thought, okay, does it automatically put in the merchant’s code? Is that the way that works? I don’t know.
There’s so much I don’t know. I do know that I have way too much of this kind of stuff. A lot of these are scripts, by the way. Scripts that either I’ve read or I intend to read. GLOW. Definitely I’ve read it. I love this show. I loved this show when it was on. I miss it sometimes because I really did love that show. But yeah, I had to read the pilot. So I got things here that I’ve never seen. All sorts of shows that I’ve never seen. Oh, let’s see. What have we got here? I’ve never seen Fleabag. I keep hearing about it. I’ve never seen it. Let’s see, what else have I not seen. My So-Called Wife, have not seen. Casual. What is Casual? Anyway, was that renamed something else?
I Hate You or something. I Hate You or I Love Hating You or something along that. Oh, Poker Face. I enjoyed Poker Face very much. Although I wondered how she could manage to survive on the road. Where was she bathing? And where was she getting those changes of clothes? I don’t know. She had quite a wardrobe for somebody who lives on the road. I got to tell you. Anyway, but I do love that show and I do love the actress, Natasha Lyonne. She’s just awesome. Russian Doll, one of my favorite shows. I just loved that one. And yeah, I love that one. And I have a lot of movies I’d like to review. I mean, maybe I’ll get to them, maybe I won’t. I do know one thing for sure. I need to get my act together in terms of organizing this office. There is just no question about it because it makes life so much more efficient and so much easier if you know where everything is.
And if you have things that you work on daily right at hand, as opposed to things that you’ve collected over time and just sit there. Yes. Just sit there.
Some of it is knowledge that’s worth keeping. Some of it, not necessarily. I’m thinking it might be useful to go through all my notes and simply write a summary of everything that people have told me, maybe eight or nine or 10 times in various places and feel compelled to tell me each and every time I go on one of these “helpful webinars” or whatever. Yes.
Just because you publish your book doesn’t mean you will become a bestseller. No, just publishing a book will not mean people will flock to buy your book. These things seem obvious to me. The need for marketing, the need to find a way to connect with readers. That has to be there if you’re going to sell your books. And I don’t know what to say other than that at this point. So I’m continuing to try to figure out how that’s supposed to work for me.
I’m not prepared to do a multi-city book tour at this point. I don’t think my husband would be real keen on that. I don’t think I would be real keen on that, simply because traveling really does wear me out. Even if it’s just a day outdoors in chilly weather surrounded by authors and people who are interested in books, even that wears me out. And it’s because of dystonia, of course. It’s certainly not my age. I mean, I otherwise feel like I could be 20, except I have a lot more knowledge at this point than I had back then, and a lot more confidence in my ability to get things done. So anyway, having said that, I guess I’m done. I’m done for the moment. And maybe what I’ll do is I’ll end up talking more about how to organize an office efficiently to serve your needs.
Maybe that would be more useful than anything I could say about self-publishing at this point, or even screenwriting. I don’t know. You tell me. What do you want to hear? Thanks. And I will be seeing you.
Oh, I’ve also been examining my emails lately, and it seems I’m part of a WordPress community that I didn’t even know was a community. So there’s a whole community out there that I’m part of that I never knew about. I should be connecting with them in some way, huh? Maybe I’d get better at using WordPress. But maybe that would be a good idea. Maybe I should design websites. Maybe I should just quit. No, I can’t do that, because I’m not a quitter.
The End. Be seeing you!
PS: Turns out I was thinking of You’re the Worst.
I’m the worst, too. 🙂
