Our Travel Adventures in Italy: Part Two — Rome

Rome was a really magical city. It was also a city that was full of traffic. Not to mention small cars and lots of scooters.

The weather was perfect when we were there — sunny every day. Perfect days to go sightseeing.

One of Rome’s many fountains!

Me and the Colosseum!

For instance, here I am near the Colosseum. And here I am again standing a few yards before some kind of old, columned structure (and I’ll be damned if I could tell you what it is). But it’s old and columned like a lot of things in Rome.

In Rome, we also saw our fair share of arched entryways.

Here are some more photos of the Colosseum closer up.

And here we are!
And here we are!

While in Rome, we also hit the Vatican. Which is to say we entered the Vatican and toured the Sistine Chapel.

Naturally, we couldn’t leave Rome without first stopping by the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps.

We even ran into two young American women one night at the Spanish Steps, which was really cool.

While in Italy, we had the misfortune of running across a few loud, obnoxious Americans. But these gals weren’t obnoxious at all. Maybe because they came from New Jersey and I’m originally from New York, but I found them very relatable.

Throughout our time in Italy, we followed the custom of drinking cappuccino in the morning and espresso any time after noon. Here I am at a café probably drinking espresso.

Awesome Rome cafe!

We also toured a huge area of rubble the Forum, a place where Rome once had its government buildings — buildings so old, they now lie in ruins.

And did I mention the skinny streets? 🙂

After a few days in Rome, we went to Florence (or Firenze) …
